So it is official, men spend more on clothing than women do, according to a new study. Researchers previously found that men spend quite a lot less than expected on clothing and shoes, but in fact it is now around £10 more per calendar month than women

Recently ‘The Boutique @ Ogilvy’ determined that men will in fact spend around £85 on clothing and accessories whereas women will spend around £75. Thanks to the willingness of men spending the extra money for their clothing and the fact that they have limited options when it comes to clothing and men’s stores, reports say that the menswear market is due to expand by 8.3% to £110.3 billion over the next year, whereas womenswear is at 4.2%.

Also in recent studies, men have been taking a far greater interest in their personal appearance and tend to have a far larger expendable income than the ladies do.

A recent study surveyed 1232 men, aged at 18 years and older, to determine shopping habits. The survey showed that 94% of men asked said that they have a defined look and 53% described their style as more relaxed and casual. Without a doubt the millennials were associated with sports wear.

The same study also researched how men got their style inspiration. 40% said they relied on a stylish inspiration, whereas 27% admitted that they were in fact dressed and styled by their partners. For the age group that were (For those born?) between the 1980-1990’s, 35% asked their friends and 18% would get their style inspiration from Instagram.
