They say a little sweat never hurt anyone, well they clearly weren’t wearing foundation.

With the summer approaching and the temperature rising, it can cause serious shiny and streaky faces. Whilst the sunshine is definitely to be celebrated (summer beauty is all about keeping your face minimal), it can be tricky to figure out how to deal with the humidity and high temperatures it brings and how it can often leave you with the dreaded melted face look, which probably isn’t the look you were going for.

Waterproofing your makeup will keep your face looking lovely and fresh, whilst you enjoy being at the beach or laying by the pool or whilst you exercise and those awful days you get caught in the rain.
With a few extra steps to your normal makeup routine, you can be sure that sweat, humidity and water aren’t going to make your flawless foundation run off the side of your face.
So here are a few simple yet effective tips to help with the melting of your foundation, as we here at Truebelle, want to make sure that no matter how sweaty you will get, you will still look your best.

  1. Use makeup setting spray before and after applying your makeup.
  2. Use primer on your forehead and nose to keep it from becoming shiny.
  3. Add a dab of primer to your lids to keep your eyeshadow from creasing.
  4. You can use milk of magnesia as a primer, for a oil free and matte skin.
  5. Go for a brow pencil that contains wax, so it won’t rub off.
  6. Instead of laying on eyeshadow to make your eyes appear bigger, use a nude eye pencil on your bottom waterline.
  7. When using a liquid foundation, apply it in criss cross strokes, this will keep it from looking streaky when you sweat.
  8. Dab, don’t drag, powder foundation over the liquid foundation to set it.
  9. With an oil absorbing sheet, blot your face after using a BB cream.
  10. Keep some oil blotting sheets to hand during the day, to keep your face oil free.
  11. Use lip stain, which is less likely to melt.
  12. Or just use a lip balm and dab a little highlighter at the centre of your lips.
  13. If you want your eyeliner to stay put use a 24 hour waterproof gel liner.
  14. Use a tinted creme blush rather than a powder.
  15. Or use a liquid blush
  16. Set under eye concealer with a setting powder.
  17. To get a dewy look, add a touch of highlighter to your foundation
  18. Use a super waterproof mascara
  19. Dust translucent powder on top of your lipstick for a matte effect.
  20. Or blot directly on your lip with a brush.
  21. Less is more. Opt for oil free products.

In the summer months, switching your makeup products to oil free and waterproof as much as you can will help keep a sweat proof makeup.
