While we do love watching the arrivals for award shows, the MTV VMA’s (Video Music Awards) though have a tendency to hold a special place in our hearts. The red carpet looks stunning and on it, nothing is ever off limits. Before heading inside to pick up the Moonmen, the celebs like to be spotted rocking everything from elaborate makeup to big and bold hairpieces (who can forget Lady Gaga accessorising with meat?). The VMA’s red carpet is where peacocking happens at its finest.
Lucky for all of us, the 2015 VMA’s show was no different. We got dramatic hair changes (Ciara and Kylie Jenner) to the noticeable fluorescent aqua eyeliner Miley Cyrus was wearing. The entire red carpet was a treat for the eyes. We’ve rounded up some of the favourites from the night. You never know, you may be inspired!
Ciara
There were lots of turning heads when Ciara rocked up to the VMAs with a new shoulder length, sleek bob. Paired with a nude lip and a thick black liner, Ciara’s look was highly sophisticated and majorly modern. Her epic style shone through on the night, unsurprisingly.
FKA Twigs
Who can’t get enough of FKA Twigs’ beautiful loose curls? She paired this look with a vintage inspired red lip. Red lips being quite the theme during the ceremony.
Demi Lovato
Taking the red carpet, looking like a serious bad ass chick, with her slicked back bob and bold brows was Miss Demi Lovato. We loved it when she switched from the nude lip to the vibrant orchid one, which matched her performance embossed gemstone get up. This lady knows what she wants and it’s exactly what we want to see.
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift is usually one to go for a typical red lip, packing on the mascara. Last night Swift switched it up so the focus was all about the eyes. Flicking out the eyeliner, into 2 cat eyes on the inner and outer corners, paired with what looked like a metallic navy shadow. A gorgeous look for a seriously gorgeous gal.
Miley Cyrus
What an outfit! With a questionable outfit and controversy surrounding her hair, you probably didn’t get to notice that Miley’s waterline. You should take a look; the VMA host had an aqua eyeliner on, which was perfect for her vibrant orange lip. She may not be conventional, but she certainly knows how to get a crowd going.
Kylie Jenner
Massively digging the bangs, whether it’s a wig or not. Kylie’s makeup was a typical 90’s throwback; a smokey eye, paired with nude lip and tons of the contouring that the Kardashians/Jenners love. It’s hard for her not to steal the show.
Selena Gomez
Gomez showed up looking seriously sophisticated, with her soft waves and a subtle smoked out eye paired with nude lips. It made for a beautiful look on the night and we couldn’t get enough. When you know you are going to bump into old flames, all you need really is a killer blow out, right?
Vanessa Hudgens
Staying with her usual haute hippie look, Hudgens adorned a half a crown braid with the rest of her loose waves. Adding a touch of glamour with a sparkling gold shadow across her lids. It may have been subtle, but subtle changes can make the world of difference when the cameras are on you.
